For the most part humans are hedonists. That simply means that we seek out pleasure and avoid pain. Not many individuals willing seek out pain, though there are stories constantly circulating of the latest extreme trend in sports or body decoration where the average person cringes at the thought of the pain associated.
Pain is felt as the body's response to unpleasant and harmful stimuli. If the body is injured, nerves transmit the damage to the brain where it is processed as pain. Take for example a hot stove. The hand touching the stove is being injured. Cells are being destroyed and tissue damage is occurring. The nerve cells of the hand transmit the sensations back to the brain where it is processed. Pain responses are emitted and reflexive actions kick in to protect the body. The person jerks their hand off the stove.

Bladder pain prevention is paramount to the comfort of the patient. Many of the tests and treatment options are painful and in a very sensitive place. Sometimes the cancer is merely a growth that can be removed with a cystoscope and being cauterized. Other times there are more invasive procedures needed such as chemotherapy.
