How To Deal With Rotator Cuff Tendonitis

Rotator cuff tendonitis can be a very painful affliction that can keep a very active person from doing what they love. Most people who are affected with tendonitis of the rotator cuff have shoulder pain that gives them a clue as to what is going on with their body. The pain can keep one from moving their arm over their head, and if one participates in sports such as baseball or tennis, then the tendonitis can lead to severe issues with the shoulder. Becoming informed about what one can do to overcome the inflammation can be critical in getting back to everyday life.

Rotator cuff tendonitis is basically an inflammation that may result in minor tearing of the muscles or tendons that hold the arm in the joint of the shoulder. The pain that is associated with this can impede one's effort to lift their arm, and can also make sleeping on the damaged area very painful. Severe complications can also arise from not paying attention tho the pain. A person can go as far as to completely tear the tendon from the shoulder bone. Treatment is critical in order for one to completely recover.

The main treatment for those living with tendonitis of the shoulder is rest and eventual strengthening of the shoulder. This tendonitis treatment may include using an elastic cord in order to strengthen their shoulder. As long as the injury is not severe, a person can usually get back to regular activities by simply resting and strengthening. However, if the tendon is completely torn or the area is not healed within a year, then surgery will be needed. Surgery can be extensive, so prevention is the best cure.

People diagnosed with rotator cuff tendonitis can expect to have pain that may keep them from doing their every day activities. The good news is that this pain and affliction can be overcome. One must become knowledgeable and proactive in maintaining their health before they can become free of the pain.
